This is wild! We are making one of the biggest decisions we have ever made! As you know we have been working on getting our commercial building put up and there has been many delays. So instead of waiting a few more months to get this sucker up we decided to have at it ourselves. This new garage is our next biggest move and we cant have any more slow downs, so here it is! We are building the new goonzquad garage! Thanks For Watching!!!

PLEASE TURN THE COMMENTS OFF!!!! The safety squad is back with reinforcements. All this hard hat bullshit followed by, "you cant learn anything on youtube, if you build something without experience everyone will die and socialism wins!" One would think that 2 out of 3 people in America build these things since all the experts are chiming in.

LOL, the voice of experience from Pops "it's a good idea right now". The optimism of Day One can sometimes change as the progress stumbles ultimately during the build stage at some point! 😉 I can picture Pops when asked about his retirement plans "my boys are going to become international You Tube celebrities with oodles of cash and we are going to build a Goonzquad Empire"!

I admire the guts to do it your selfs, but this projects are for big boys and big boys need to act like men. Wear hard hats when doing construction this is big dangerous projects that a single bolt or a nut can kill you from falling on top of your head not to mention a big stell beam.

When you put the the trusses up (The roof beam) with the first one up and secured to the wall columns, you should run chains from the peak of the truss and midpoint of the truss to an anchor of some sort on the ground as close to a 45 degree angle as you can. That will keep it from swaying back and forth and lock it down so it is not moving on you later on when you go to secure the the second truss to the other wall columns. With both trusses up you can run purlins from the top down on each side of the truss and then run your girts down the walls. Keep the chains up until you start sheeting because the building will still lack shear strength. So if you get any bad weather a strong wind could potentially push that framing right over. Especially since the anchor bolts are epoxied into the slab and not wet set J bolts the top of the truss is has thousands of pounds of leverage at the slab when it is swaying like that, you dont want it moving on you at all.

  • Vic Nesheim

Probably been said - wall laterals = GIRTS; roof laterals = PURLINS.

When I have had to use the power equipment on finished, you can wrap the tires with duct tape, it works, just be cognizant of the impact on traction. You can also check with your concrete guy, you should be able to seal it so the marks from tires do not stick. I just dont know how long it's been since you poured it.

You have pillars, trusses, and perlin. Hopefully your building is fairly square or your siding and ceiling is probably going need to be stretched so be sure to keep up with the measuring as you go because once you get some crooked it's a bitch getting back on track
